Cuba ratifies will to strengthen relations with Brazil

Havana, Sep 7 (RHC) The member of the Political Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, Roberto Morales Ojeda, ratified this Thursday the will of the country to continue building friendly relations with Brazil.

The party leader congratulated the Brazilian people and government on the occasion of celebrating the 201st anniversary of the independence of the South American country.

In Brazil, national independence is celebrated every September 7, commemorating the Grito de Ipiranga (1822), the day on which Pedro I formally broke his submissive relations with the Portuguese crown.

Cuba and Brazil established bilateral relations 37 years ago, which have been strengthened since the beginning of the new term of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in January of this year.

Last August, Celso Amorim, advisor for international affairs to the South American president, while visiting Havana, confirmed to President Miguel Díaz-Canel his country's interest in reestablishing commercial and political ties with Cuba. (Source: ACN)
