Floating dock begins operations in Cuba

Havana, Oct 25 (RHC) The commissioning of the Floting Dock 2 began recently in Cuba, a project which will become an important source of foreign exchange income for the country, as well as for the development of the fleet and the transportation system in general.

Miguel Pineda López, general director of the Maritime-Port Transport Business Group, explained that from this moment on, the hiring of both national and foreign vessels will begin, depending on the availability of resources. He also highlighted that in the Caribbean area there are practically no other repair capacities like those of this floating dock.

In the official commissioning ceremony, Pineda said that the dock will enhance the development of exports in naval repairs, taking advantage of the recognition of the Casablanca shipyard in the international market. It will also efficiently guarantee the repair of the national fleet and develop the chain with other production of goods and services of the national economy. (Source: Radio Rebelde)
