International colloquium on Women Studies will be held in Cuba

The colloquium aims at promoting the study of the history of the continent, from the perspective of female participation in the struggles

 

Havana, February 19 (RHC) The international colloquium "30 years of Women Studies, Feminisms and Women's movements in Latin America and the Caribbean" will begin today and will run until February 23, at the headquarters of Casa de las Americas in Havana.

Organized by the Women's Studies Program of that Cuban cultural institution, the event aims at promoting the study of the history of the continent, from the perspective of female participation in each struggle.

Feminine posture in different spaces, violence, literature, masculinities and activism, are themes that will be present in the 16 sessions that make up the program, which will be attended by representatives of universities and study centers from different countries in the region.

For three decades, the colloquium has been an annual feedback space for feminist movements and has allowed the confluence of different social and cultural perspectives.

In the context of the activities for the 65 years of the founding of Casa de las Américas, the event will take stock of the achievements in recent years and will contribute to socializing the feminine challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the resistance capacity of women in the world.
