Cuba and Vietnam outline extensive cooperation through the Intergovernmental COmmisiion for economic and Scientific-Technical Collaboration

 

Havana, April 12 (RHC) Cuba and Vietnam began official talks this Thursday to strengthen cooperation in tourism, energy, biotechnology and agri-food production, and promote business deals for the domestic market and exports.

The 41st Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Collaboration serves as the setting for the joint examination, which will last until April 15.

The forum is chaired by the Vietnamese Minister of Construction, Nguyen Thanh Nghi; and the Cuban deputy prime minister and head of Foreign Trade and Investment, Ricardo Cabrisas.

On the opening day, Cabrisas ratified the importance that Cuba attaches to economic, financial and commercial ties, as well as cooperation with Vietnam.

He conveyed special gratitude for Vietnam’s understanding and sustained support of the island during the most recent years, in which the country has faced a complex economic and financial situation.

He specified that Vietnam is the main Asian investor in Cuba, maintains an active participation in the ventures in the Mariel Special Development Zone and at the same time, is an important supplier of rice for the consumption of the population.

For his part, Nguyen ratified the support of his Government and Vietnamese companies for the Economic and Social Development Program of Cuba, until 2030, in prioritized areas and fundamental activities. (Source: PL)
