Havana, November 17 (RHC) -- Cuba recorded from December 16, 2013 to September 15, 2014 a total of 9,313 fires, an increase of 353 compared with the previous period.

The numbers were released in a report from the National Fire Department, that said there has been an increase in reports of early fires, as well as those of mid and regular proportions.

The report, however, did not detail the material or human damage that occurred as result of the fires.

The report adds that about 21,888 inspections were executed nationwide and, as a result, nearly 127,488 infractions of fire protection rules were detected, including those related to evacuation.

Inadequate ventilation in storage facilities, lack of protection of electrical and lighting systems, absence of signs for emergency routes and exits, are some of the violations that persist in certain institutions, the report highlighted.
