Washington, February 28 (RHC) -- Cuba and the United States have scheduled talks for next week on issues open to cooperation. Such topics include civil aviation and human trafficking, according to officials at the end of bilateral talks in Washington on Friday.

The meetings on issues of mutual interest are among the results of talks held yesterday at the U.S. State Department. The meeting was headed by Director General of the United States at the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Josefina Vidal, and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Roberta Jacobson.

According to Jacobson, the first exchanges between experts will take place in the United States and they will continue during March in Cuba, with the visit of diplomat Daniel Sepulveda, who will work with the host country on issues of communications and information. Also in March, at the end of the month, we will talk about the structure of our dialogue on human rights, Jacobson told reporters.

In statements to journalists, Josefina Vidal explained that the technical meetings will also allow to exchange on migration fraud, protected marine areas and the application of the U.S. blockade on Cuba.

Both diplomats coincided in describing the meetings held Friday as developing in a constructive climate of cooperation, following those of the first round of talks on January 22nd in Havana, to advance toward a re-establishment of bilateral relations and the opening of their respective embassies in both countries.
