Cuban singer songwriter Pablo Milanes, founder of the Nueva Trova movement, will perform in Colombia on October 1st to honor Gabriel Garcia Marquez during the festival dedicated to this writer, according to event organizers.

"Gabo visited my house in Havana, he liked to ask about my work. He loved to ask about what my friends were writing and playing, things he had not heard of and fascinated him, that way a close friendship was born, more musical than literary", said Milanes.

"At the concert organized in Medellin, as part of the festival named after him, I will launch an album that he could not listen to, its name is Renacimiento, with songs also influenced by the Baroque and mixed with Cuban rhythms", said Milanes, quoted by El Colombiano website.

According to the writer of famous "Yolanda" and "El breve espacio", the new album includes songs in the style of changüi, danzon, conga, jazz as they are the ultimate expression of Cuban popular music.

The free performance of Milanes will be hosted by the Fundacion Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano, founded by Garcia Marquez, who was awarded the Literature Nobel Prize in 1982.
