Asunción, February 16 (RHC-PL) -- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will visit Paraguay on February 25th and 26th, Foreign Affairs Minister Eladio Loizaga said.

Speaking to reporters, he stated that the visit's agenda includes exchanges on topics related to development once 2015 ends, the deadline for the fulfillment of the Millennium Goals, according to UN Agreements. He will also discuss the role of Paraguay in the multilateral context, particularly with regard to developing landlocked countries, the group to which it belongs.

Ban will tour the Joint Training Center for Paraguay's Peacekeeping Operations and will visit social programs sites that the UN supports here. The Center is an institution designed to train future members of peacekeeping missions of the UN, in which Paraguay participates with its military to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Cote d'Ivore, Western Sahara, Haiti and Cyprus.

Loizaga said that another aspect to be analyzed in the meeting with the secretary general is the tense international situation especially referring to the recent events developed in the Middle East and other parts of the world.

The arrival of Ban Ki-moon will coincide with those of the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Roberto Azevedo and a special adviser for Latin America sent by the president of France, François Hollande.
