Havana, May 5 (RHC)-- Cuba rejected at the United Nations the imposed pre-conditions and restrictions preventing countries from exercising their legitimate right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Cuba's ambassador at the UN, Rodolfo Benítez, stressed that those obstacles run contrary to the spirit and the letter of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and also constitutes a major barrier to the effective fulfillment of the mandate of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Addressing the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in New York, the Cuban diplomat called for full, unrestricted technical cooperation among countries.
