The Cuban Ministry of Tourism - Mintur-, sent a note of recognition to all workers in the sector, on the occasion of this Saturday's celebration of the 62nd anniversary of Cuban tourism.

The text recalls that on November 20, 1959, the first agency specialized in this sector, the INIT, National Institute of the Tourism Industry, was created.

Sixty years later, on the same date, but in 2019, the Cuban Tourism Day was instituted, according to presidential decree 382 and with the purpose of paying tribute to all those people and institutions that accompany or intervene in the development of this sector, which is one of the most important in the national economic life.

The Mintur note highlights the work of the workers of this industry who supported the country during the COVID-19 pandemic by forming part of the more than 200 "Elpidio C Sosa González" brigades that worked in the red zone, as well as in the preparation of hotels and campsites to convert them into isolation centers.

They also guaranteed food, transportation and support to medical personnel, sparing no effort or time.

With last Monday's opening, the Cuban tourism industry is resuming its dynamics. The mission remains the same, "to boost the economy and generate income that contributes to increase and raise the quality and welfare of the Cuban people".

On the social network Twitter, Mintur highlights the date with texts such as: "Cuban tourism this time celebrating 62 years of promoting a revolutionary tourism based on the best traditions of the nation, its people and the natural resources existing in the country.

And, "Cuban tourism is reorganized in correspondence with the new normality to continue boosting Cuba's economic development," safe destination.
