An urgency of these times is solidarity and the coordination of joint projects from the South to increase resilience and reduce the vulnerability of less developed countries to the adverse effects of climate change.

That is why Cuba, as pro tempore president of the Group of 77+China, promotes dialogue and cooperation to address the impact of this phenomenon on biodiversity, economy, society, food security and health.

In recent days, Havana has been an ideal place for dialogue and the exchange of experiences on this issue among the member nations of this political coordination mechanism, which represents 80% of the world's population.

At the meeting of high-level authorities and ministers of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation of the bloc, Cuba urged to work in a united and sustained manner, since environmental challenges have no borders.

Cuba presented the actions implemented in the national territory, as part of its commitment to care for the environment and in compliance with the endorsed in the Constitution of 2019 that reflects the right to enjoy a healthy and balanced environment.

In this regard, he shared with those present his experience and the achievements of his scientific community, which contributes to the state's plan to confront climate change, known as Tarea Vida.

Five strategic actions and 11 tasks aimed at counteracting the effects on vulnerable areas are included in this plan, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.

The recent creation of the Iris United for Climate Foundation, which seeks to systematize the scientific knowledge and know-how accumulated in Cuban society for its application in economic and social development in the face of the impact of climate change, is also part of this path.

The entity will also be a channel for the exchange of knowledge, the promotion of studies on this subject and the dissemination of their results.

The ministerial meeting of the Group of 77+China was part of the 14th Convention on Environment and Development, which was attended by representatives of more than twenty nations.

The meeting of the bloc evidenced the importance that member countries attach to South-South cooperation, a path promoted by Cuba, as a nation and now as president pro tempore, to face together the adverse effects of climate change.
