Intellectuals and artists from across Cuba have joined an online debate on identity and heritage, in the framework of this year’s XXVII Romerías de Mayo Festival, organized by the Hermanos Saíz Association, the Ministry of Culture, cultural institutions and the provincial government in eastern Holguin province.

The online debate takes place for two hours every day, from 10 to midday, Cuban Time, through May 8 -- the festival’s official closure. Participants include also social science researchers, who on Monday, alone, answered more than 80 questions raised by Cuban and foreign internet users.

The event’s program includes music recitals, art exhibitions, poetry readings, debates and messages of unity and encouragement by established and young artists –all shared through the Facebook page of the Hermanos Saíz Association and over one hundred other digital platforms of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, with that hashtags #RomeríasEnCasa, #ElArteNoPara, #ElArteSalva, #MantenteInspirado and #CubaEsCultura.

Highlights of this year’s first ever virtual edition of the Romerías de Mayo festival is being broadcast also on Cuban television.
