Poet Victor Rodríguez

Havana, July 28 (RHC)-- Cuban literary critic, poet and journalist Víctor Rodríguez Núñez was proclaimed the winner of the 29th Malaga Poetry Award, sponsored by Malaga City Council.

Rodríguez Núñez won with his book of poems entitled 'Siete preposiciones de lugar'. He competed for the coveted award against 281 authors from the Spanish-Speaking world.

The award consists of a six-thousand-euro cash prize.

PhD in Hispanic Literature from the University of Texas and professor of that specialty at Kenyon College, Víctor Rodríguez Núñez is recognized for his poems 'Camaya' (1979) or 'Nobody's poems and other poems' (1994).

In his words, classifying poetry as a literary genre is a sin, arguing that poetry emerged prior to written literature, and it is basically an oral art form, he recently said.
