Festival of Ibero-American Culture

Havana, October 24 (RHC)-- The 27th edition of the Ibero-American Culture Festival began Sunday, October 24th, on digital networks from Eastern Holguin province.

The opening session included the inauguration of a virtual exhibition of works by local artists in Holguin, followed by the opening remarks, delivered by Eduardo Ávila, director of Casa de Iberoamérica and president of the organizing committee.

The event focuses of people and resistance art, aimed at facilitating reflection and debate on issues related to the role of culture, history and intellectuals in the defense of social achievements under the Revolution.

This year’s edition is dedicated to the 100th birthday anniversary of Cintio Vitier, the 30th anniversary of the Juan Rius Rivera Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba and the 100th anniversary of the Latin Music Institute, which signed a cooperation accord with Casa de Iberoamérica earlier this year that provides for cultural promotion and experience sharing.

Lisset Baster, a communications expert with Casa de Iberoamérica said that on October 25th the Ibero-American of Thought will be held with a conference on cultural warfare and resistance by Abel Prieto, president of Casa de Las Américas.
