Caribbean Festival 2023

Santiago de Cuba, July 7 (RHC)-- Casa del Caribe has received reproductions of 22 engravings by renowned Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada.

The art pieces were donated by Mexican Aguascalientes County, in the framework of the 42nd edition of the Caribbean Festival, also known as the Fire Festival.

The works are on display at the Francisco Prat Puig cultural center.

Poet Fabián Muñoz noted that the exhibition deals with human condition at different times and places.

Orlando Vergés, director of Casa del Caribe, thanked authorities of Aguascalientes in Mexico for the gesture, saying it confirms the excellent friendship and cultural ties between the two nations and peoples.

Vergés stressed that the exhibition will remain open to the public in Santiago de Cuba, through August.

This year’s edition of the Caribbean Festival is dedicated to Mexico, specifically to celebrations of life and death –the day of the Dead—declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2003.
