Cuba at regional meeting on education and culture

Havana, October 25 (RHC) -- A Cuban delegation participated Wednesday in the inauguration of the 13th Regional Meeting of the Committee for Education and Cultural Action in Latin America and the Caribbean (CECA LAC), at the Pachacamac Museum in Lima, Peru.

Specialists of the socio-cultural project Cabildo Quisicuaba represent the Caribbean island in the event with the presentation "Quisicuaba Museum, educational entity within the Los Sitios community", which will be presented next Friday.

The museologist of the Project, Dayamí Cabrera said that they hope to interact with colleagues from several countries of Latin America and the Caribbean and present their experiences from museology, intangible and cultural heritage.

Museums and sustainable development is the theme chosen for this edition of the meeting because of the implications of this concept for the institutions and communities of the region from a logic of collective construction.

On this idea, the Peruvian Minister of Culture, Leslie Urteaga, said at the opening of the event that sustainability is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity "because it means continuing to build meaning for our museums.

The main objective of the meeting is to promote dialogue and reflection on sustainability in museum institutions.

CECA LAC is the regional organization that brings together museum professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean (Source: Prensa Latina).
