Lima, August 7 (RHC) – In the Basque Pelota Cuban Dariel Leyva dominated Peruvian Jesus Quinto in two games of the Men´s Hand Fronton.  In the Men´s Doubles Fronton Leather Ball, stepped over Mexico also in two games. Alejandro Gonzalez lost his first match of the day against Argentinian Guillermo Osorio in the Men´s Individual Peruvian Fronton, and in the Fronton Rubber Ball defeated Chilean Martin Letelier.  In the Women´s Individual Peruvian Fronton, Wendy Duran took on Chilean Rosa Valderrama and defeated her in two games. In the Women´s Doubles Trinquete Rubber Ball, Cuba was inferior to Chile as they lost 2-1.

Quite a busy day in fencing was August 6 for the Cuban squad. Luis Aguilera was dominant in Pool A of the Men´s Individual Foil as he defeated almost every rival, 5-3 against Puerto Rican Carlos Padua, 5-3 against American Race Imboden, 5-2 against Peruvian Federico Canchez, 5-3 against Argentinian Augusto Servello and lost only one match, 3-5 against Chilean Gustavo Alarcon. Aguilera ultimately got eliminated by Puerto Rican Carlos Padua in the Round of 16 by score of 14-15. In Women´s Individual Sabre, Cuban Aymara Tablada reached the Quarter-Finals, where she was defeated by Argentinian Maria Belen Perez (12-15), after beating Dominican Heyddys Ysabel in the Round of 16. Tablada had advanced to the Round of 16 with a record of 2W and 3L during the Group Stage.

In Water Polo, the Cuban Women´s team achieved their second victory in the Group Stage after defeating Peru 19-5. The Men´s team carried a loss in their debut against Canada 11-20. And the only Cuban athlete that made it pass the Preliminary Round in Table Tennis, Idalys Lovet, was eliminated in the Women´s Singles Round of 16 by American Lily Zhang 4-0.
