Tokyo, July 29 (PL) -- Cuban judoka Kaliema Antomarchi fell today in the dispute for the Olympic bronze medal by waza-ari to Germany's Anna Maria Wagner in the 78-kilogram division.

Antomarchi defeated Croatian Karla Podan by waza-ari in her first bout and lost to French world champion Madeleine Malonga by the same way in overtime, before moving on to the repechage bout that pitted her against Netherlands representative Guusje Steenhuis.

After beating the Dutchwoman, the Cuban reached the discussion for the bronze medal and there she fell at the hands of the current world champion.

In the same division, Brazil's Mayra Aguiar won her third bronze medal in Olympic events after third places in London 2012 and Rio 2016.
