Havana, October 23 (RHC)-- Reigning monarchs Caribes de Anzoátegui face Tiburones de La Guaira today in the inaugural duel of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), in its 2021-2022 season.

In the rest of the challenges scheduled for the first day of the campaign, Cardenales de Lara will face Bravos de Margarita, Tigres de Aragua will face Leones del Caracas, and Navegantes del Magallanes will face Águilas del Zulia, always at the home of the aforementioned teams.

The qualifying stage will conclude on December 26, and five teams will advance to the post-season in a round robin (all against all) of 16 games for each team, a successful format that has always pleased Venezuelan fans, according to the organizers.

Likewise, the Final Series will be played to the best of seven games, from which will emerge the Venezuelan representative to the upcoming Caribbean Series, scheduled for the Dominican Republic from January 28 to February 3 of next year.

For the new season of the Venezuelan League (LVBP), the Government of the South American nation approved the attendance of public to the stadiums up to 40% of their capacity, under strict biosecurity protocols, in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
