The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will make a decision as soon as possible on whether boxing and weightlifting will be in Paris 2024, said President Thomas Bach.

Paris, October 29 (RHC)-- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will make a decision as soon as possible on whether boxing and weightlifting will be in Paris 2024, said President Thomas Bach.

"We are quite concerned because in these two federations there are problems of good governance and that's why we are monitoring it very closely now," Bach told French sports daily L'Equipe. "We will take a decision as soon as possible in the interest of the athletes," he added on Thursday.

Both sports have had governance problems and their participation in the upcoming Olympics is in doubt.

Last month, an independent investigation commissioned by boxing's governing body Aiba revealed that there was a system of manipulation at Rio 2016.

Regarding weightlifting, Bach said earlier in the year that "in relation to good governance, I think we need to see a culture of change in this international federation."
