Haarlem Baseball Week

Haarlem, July 9 (JIT)-- Cuba's national team, Alazanes de Granma, makes its debut this Saturday in the XXX Haarlem Baseball Week, which began on Friday with a dominance of pitchers and victories by Japan and the Netherlands.

In the first duel, the ninth of Japan defeated Curaçao with a 1x0 score. The team from the Land of the Rising Sun could not hit a run in the seven chapters of the game, despite accumulating seven hits and playing without errors on defense.

Curaçao hit five hits and experienced its best moment in the seventh inning, when it had a runner on third base with one out. However, a double kill not only sealed the aspiration of tying the challenge, but also put an end to the game.

In the second inning of the program, the Netherlands edged Italy 2x1. Both teams hit four hits.

After the first day of the event, it could be predicted that there would be little offense, but it is too early for such a prediction.

This Saturday, the Alazanes de Granma will make their debut in a match that will award points for the world ranking to the teams that occupy the first three places.

Carlos Martí, manager of the Alazanes, has announced that right-hander Cesar García will start the game against the Netherlands.

The second day of competition will be completed with the clash between the United States and Japan.
