Havana, August 1 (RHC)-- Seven Cuban athletes will be attending the U-20 World Championship of Athletics, to be held in Cali, Colombia, until August 6.

Cuba will be represented by sprinters Yarima García and Reynaldo Espinosa, registered in the 100 and 200 meters flat (m/p), Liliet Cabrera in the 400 meters hurdles; as well as Alejandro Parada and Aniel Adrián Molina in the long jump.

Hammer thrower Leidis Viamonte and decathlonist Josmi Sánchez complete the delegation to the competition in the coffee lands.

This Monday, on the first day of competition, Parada and Molina will make their debut in the qualifying stage of the long jump; in addition to Sanchez in the decathlon and Espinosa in the eliminatory heats of the hectometer.

The inclusion of the seven representatives of the island was based on the fulfillment of the required marks and the real possibilities that they could finish among the first eight places in their events, which would contribute points to the classification by countries.

A year ago in Nairobi, Kenya, the Cubans won a title through Juan Carley Vázquez, in the shot put, in addition to the bronze medals of Shainer Reginfo in the 100 m/p and javelinist Yiselena Ballar.

In the points table, the Caribbean nation finished in 22nd place with 25 points, with Reginfo's sixth place in the 200 m/p and Ronald Mencia's seventh place in the hammer throw.
