Cuba for another success in U21 Pan American Volleyball Cup (m)

Havana, October 4 (RHC)-- The Cuban men's national team will look for its second victory today against Nicaragua in the U21 men's volleyball Pan American Cup, a tournament taking place until next Saturday at the Ciudad Deportiva coliseum in Havana.

The disciples of Jesús Cruz will play as favorites against the Nicaraguans in the second date of the group phase, in Pool B, after defeating the Haitians 3-1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-12 and 25-11) in the opening match.

According to the site www.norceca.net, the statistics of the match reflect a dominance of Cuba in the attack, 47 points to 27, blocking (9-4) and service (12-3), but with the best results for Haiti in the errors committed that gave goals to the rivals (25-31).

Cuban opposite Alejandro Miguel Gonzalez was the top scorer of the match with 25 points, 20 in attack, three in blocking and two in service, followed by auxiliary Bryan Camino (17/9-1-7), while for Haiti Estakend Beauvoir (11/9-1-1) stood out.

Meanwhile, Canada defeated Nicaragua 3-0 (25-15, 25-21 and 25-11) on Monday in the other challenge of segment B, while in segment A, Mexico defeated Dominican Republic 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 26-24 and 25-20) and the match between the United States and Chile was postponed due to the late arrival of the Americans in Havana.

According to the announced schedule, the preliminary phase will conclude on Wednesday, the quarterfinals on Thursday, the semifinals on Friday, to which the group leaders will advance directly, and the gold and bronze medals will be discussed on Saturday.

Saturday will also define the owners of the tickets for the world championship of the category in 2023.
