Caracas, July 1 (RHC)-- President Nicolás Maduro denounced this Monday that El Salvador violates international law by kidnapping 252 Venezuelan migrants with the complicity of the United States: “They have not had any rights as human beings,” he stated.
“They are kidnapped and disappeared by a prison system that violates all the international laws and guarantees to which El Salvador is a signatory,” the head of state emphasized.
After emphasizing that they are buried by a prison system that violates international laws and guarantees, the president specified that “we have been able to recover more than 6,500 Venezuelans who have been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).”
“At a famous fashion show in Paris, the designer dared to simulate the horrific images of Nayib Bukele's concentration camps in El Salvador. Millions of people in the US, Europe, and Latin America watched it and liked it, so they can see the impact of the kidnapping of 252 Venezuelans who have no right to defense and who never committed any crime in the US or El Salvador,” the president emphasized.
On June 24, 100 days of illegal detention marked the end of the 252 Venezuelan citizens. They remain kidnapped and held without conviction in a maximum-security prison in El Salvador, originally designed to house terrorists.
According to U.S. authorities, they were expelled from the country for immigration reasons. To date, they have not been prosecuted or had access to a fair trial. These violations have led to national and international condemnation, particularly from human rights organizations.
