Havana, December 15 (RHC)-- The Cuban men's handball team, junior category, won its third victory on Wednesday in the qualifying tournament for the World Championship of that sport, to be held in Mexico City until the 17th.

The Cuban team defeated its Puerto Rican counterpart 46-20 to maintain its undefeated status and lead Group B at the end of the preliminary phase.

According to data provided via WhatsApp to the Cuban News Agency by Franklin Guevara, national commissioner of that discipline, the winners stood out on offense; Lazaro Vega, with 12 goals, and Osmany Miniet (10).

With this result, the island team will face Guadeloupe next Friday in one of the semifinals, in search of advancing to the discussion of the title.

In this qualifying tournament for the universal competition of the junior category, two tickets will be given to the world event and a place in the Intercontinental competition, both events to be held next year.

On Monday, the Cuban national team made its debut in the tournament with a 32-19 victory over Martinique, and in its second match a day later defeated the local Mexicans by a score of 38-31.
