Havana, January 21 (RHC)-- Supported by the fabulous pitching performance of Carlos Juan Viera, the Agricultores team defeated Portuarios 9-1 today in the sixth game of the grand final of the Elite League of Cuban Baseball (LEBC). In this way, the eastern team tied the play off to three wins each side, and forced a seventh and decisive game.

Supported by the hundreds of fans present at the Mártires de Barbados stadium in the city of Bayamo, the disciples of Carlos Martí counted on a superb job by right-hander Viera, who in seven innings allowed only one run, striking out five and giving away three tickets.

The night turned out to be "round" for the pitcher, as he gave his team a valuable victory and received his girlfriend's approval of the marriage proposal made on the field by the pitcher.

Offensively, the Agricultores relied on the batting of Yosvani Alarcón (5-3, 4CI), Osvaldo Abreu (5-2, 3CI) and Alexquemer Sánchez (4-2, 1CI).

Tomorrow both teams will play the last game in the grand final of the LEBC, and the winner will not only be the starter of the inaugural version of this tournament, but will also be Cuba's representative in the Caribbean Series "Gran Caracas 2023" to be held next February 2-10 in Venezuela.

In the post-game press conference, both mentors announced their starters: Leandro Martinez will be the trump card for the Agricultores and for the Portuarios Raimond Figueredo is in charge of looking for the championship victory.
