Caracas, April 23 (RHC)-- Cuba won three gold medals and one silver medal on the first day of swimming at the 5th Alba Games in Venezuela, where today the six Cuban swimmers will seek eight podiums.

Daine Pedré won the 200 meters (m) combined, with 2:24:10 minutes, according to the Cuban delegation's results table.

Pedré achieved a notable advantage, as the runner-up, Venezuelan Monica Leydar, finished with 2:28:47, and her compatriot Angibeth Pacheco won the bronze with 2:31:97.

The other titles came in the 100 m breaststroke, Daysi Ramirez won with 1:13:26 minutes and Julio Calero with 1:03:93.

The silver medal went to Fermín Rodríguez in the 50 m backstroke.

Today, the Cuban men competed in the 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 400 combined, 50 butterfly and 200 breaststroke, and the women in 400 combined, 50 butterfly and 200 breaststroke. (Source: ACN)
