Cuba-Russia agreement

Havana, May 19 (JIT) - Osvaldo Vento, president of Inder, signed an important sports cooperation agreement between Cuba and the Russian Federation, which will be in force until 2025.

The Russian ambassador in Cuba, Victor Koronelli, signed the agreement that includes sports exchange and technical scientific development in this field.

It was derived from the meeting held by Vento with the Russian Minister of Sports Oleg Vasilyevich in the framework of the V Alba Games of Venezuela 2023.

It finally took place within the framework of the 19th Meeting of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission for Scientific and Technical Economic-Commercial Cooperation chaired by Russian Deputy Minister Dimitri Chernishenko.

The understanding foresees Cuban participation in events such as the Games of the Future, the International University Sports Festival and the Goodwill Cup, along with friendly matches in several sports disciplines.

Among the sports that will benefit from the agreement are baseball, judo, athletics, handball, cycling, weightlifting, boxing, fencing and wrestling, among others.

Likewise, Russian businessmen are expected to participate in the upcoming Havana International Sports Fair 2023, to be held next July and August.

"This is a very beneficial agreement because it includes collaboration for sports development, but also strengthens the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations twinned by history," said the head of Inder after the signing.
