A plethora of Olympic weightlifters to compete in Havana

Havana, June 7 (ACN)-- Multiple Olympic medalists stand out among the 133 women and 139 men who will compete from tomorrow until June 18 in the Grand Prix of Weightlifting in Havana, an Olympic qualifier.

Lydia Valentín (Spain), Neisi Dajomes and Tamara Salazar (Ecuador), Luis Mosquera (Colombia), Aremi Fuentes (Mexico) and Julio Mayora (Venezuela) will be among the main entertainers of the competition in Pabexpo.

The most represented nations are the United States, Cuba, Canada and Colombia, with 20, 19, 19 and 17 competitors, respectively, according to the official entry lists.

Meanwhile, the most popular divisions are the women's 71 kilograms (kg) with 26 weightlifters and the men's 73 kg, with 25.

The competition will begin with the 49 kg women's Group B at 3:30 pm and the 55 kg men's medal competition at 6:00 pm.

Cuba will start with a guaranteed medal, as Havana's Osmel Argote will participate in this final, with only three contenders.
