Cuba vs. Mexico to open baseball games in Central American Games

San Salvador, June 9 (PL) - The teams of Cuba and Mexico will open baseball at the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023, informed the Organizing Committee.

The schedule for the discipline is defined with a round robin between the eight participating countries, starting next Saturday, June 24, at the remodeled Saturnino Bengoa Urrutia Ball Park.

Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Curacao and the Dominican Republic will compete along with El Salvador for the medals in the regional competition.

The four best teams of this initial round will fight for the medals and will qualify for the XIX Pan American Games Santiago 2023, to be held between October and November in Chile.

The Salvadoran ninth team will face its Cuban counterpart on Wednesday 28th as home team, on Thursday 29th will be away against Venezuela and on Friday 30th will face Puerto Rico, also as visitor, three of the favorite teams to fight for the medals.

The opening day on Saturday 24 at 9:30 in the morning will be completed with the matches Puerto Rico vs Venezuela (1:00 pm), Dominican Republic vs Nicaragua (4:30 pm) and Curacao vs El Salvador (8:00 pm).
