Havana, July 2 (RHC)-- Due to the persistence of the rain and the conditions of the field, the game for the baseball title of the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023, between the national teams of Mexico and Cuba, was suspended.

This game was scheduled to be played on Saturday night at the Saturnino Bengoa stadium, but could not take place. Therefore, in order to define the winner, the organizers applied the regulations, which give priority to the previous game between them.

As it is recalled, in the qualifying phase, the Aztecs had won by a 4-0 scoreline. For that reason, Mexico gets the golden metal and the troop of the Pinero mentor Armando Jhonson finishes in second place, similar to the performance in the last Central Caribbean Games of Barranquilla 2018 where Puerto Rico won, the great disappointment now.

For Mexico, this is its first baseball title in the history of these regional sporting events, the oldest of all.

"Our team grew with the competition and left the image that its fans deserve. It never gave up and can return with its head held high," tweeted the president of Inder, Osvaldo Vento Montiller.
