Montevideo, June 13 (JIT) - The Cuban national soccer team arrived Monday night in Uruguay, coming from Chile, after playing a friendly match against its senior squad in that country.

The Cuban ambassador in Uruguay, Zulan Popa, received the Cuban delegation, in the middle of the cold temperatures prevailing in Montevideo.

Popa welcomed the members of the squad, accompanied by other members of the Cuban consulate in the South American country.

"Welcome to Uruguay, we hope you feel at ease and good luck in the match you will play on the 20th against the Uruguayan national team. We hope your stay here will be very profitable," said the diplomat addressing the team.

The meeting with the Cuban delegation was also attended by Enrique Moreira, vice-president of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF), who also welcomed the Cuban players.

The Cuban national team will begin a 10-day training camp in this country with an unquestionable soccer tradition.

The preparatory tour with a view to the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2023 will culminate with the friendly match that the Leones del Caribe will play against the national team of Uruguay, on the 20th of this month.

"We will make the most of our stay here, in the interest of arriving in the best possible shape for the Gold Cup. In Uruguay we not only value the opportunity to prepare ourselves, but we will also have another diagnostic test against a very demanding national team," national coach Pablo Elier Sánchez told JIT.
