Las Tunas, August 3 (PL) - The ximum historical winner of titles and the leader of the current regular season will face each other starting Saturday in an unprecedented final in Cuban baseball series.

Industriales made it to the title game after beating Santiago de Cuba in seven games, while Las Tunas eliminated Matanzas in the semifinals in six games (4-2).

The capital's Leones are seeking their 13th crown and return to a final since the 51st tournament (2011-2012) when they lost to Ciego de Avila in five games.

The last time the Blue Lions won the title was in the 49th season (2009-2010), an epic playoff in which they came from behind to win the series against Villa Clara.

They will now face Los Leñadores Tuneros, leaders in the preliminary phase, who eliminated Ciego de Avila in the quarterfinals by sweep (4-0) and then left Matanzas out of the podium in six games.

Las Tunas treasures one title, won in the 58th fair (2018-2019) when it defeated Villa Clara 4-1.

Since becoming champion, the Tunas team has not returned to a final, always victims of Matanzas in the playoffs.

The only time that Las Tunas and Industriales met in the postseason was in the 2017-2018 semifinal, a series dominated by the Leñadores, who won in seven games at the Julio Antonio Mella stadium in the eastern city, where the final will start on Saturday.
