Havana, October 6 (JIT) - Athletes and workers of INDER, led by its president, Osvaldo Vento Montiller, honored the victims of the horrendous crime of Barbados, with the premise of never forgetting.

In the solemn activity, held on Thursday at the Coliseum of the Sports City of Havana, in the presence of members of the fencing team that will participate in the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023, the victims of the sabotage perpetrated by terrorists at the service of the CIA were remembered.

The mid-flight bombing of a Cubana de Aviación aircraft in which the participants in the IV Central American and Caribbean Fencing Championship were traveling in Venezuela, generates every year the repudiation of the members of the Cuban sports system and the Cuban people.

Alhjadis Banderas, president of the Cuban Fencing Federation, expressed on behalf of the athletes that the legacy of the Barbados martyrs remains intact.

"In every competition we keep in mind Fidel's words that the medals would multiply and that the memory of our brothers would be the guide for the new generations," he said.

In front of the heritage represented by the replica of the trophy won in that Championship and the jersey of the unforgettable Nancy Uranga, the team that will participate in the WBSC Baseball5 Youth World Cup Ankara 2023 was flagged.

The president of Inder handed the national insignia to the captain of the team, Jadier René Ulloa Massip, to whom he expressed that they expect the most worthy performance in the event, and that they emulate the result of the senior team, world champion in that discipline.

The athlete Claudia Caridad Gómez Gómez read the commitment of all, in which she recalled that they will follow the example of so many worthy men and women of the country.

With the video of Fidel's words at the mourning farewell of the Barbados martyrs, the emotional political and cultural event concluded.
