Havana, October 6 (JIT) - The Cuban team won nine of the 14 titles in dispute in the first round of the Havana Taekwondo Open, held in Havana.

The hosts dominated all the men's divisions, except for the 54 kg and 74 kg, dominated by Canada, and the 87 kg, in which Mexico took the lead. For the girls, Ecuador and France won one of the five crowns contested.

After the opening of the competition and the poomsae event held on Wednesday, the hosts confirmed their power in the bouts by winning silver and bronze medals in almost all the divisions in competition.

Among the highlights was the performance of Arletys de la Caridad Acosta, 67kg champion who will represent Cuba at the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023 and the only one with the experience of Lima 2019.
