Monaco, November 13 (PL) -- World Athletics announced the five finalists for the 2023 Female Athlete of the Year award, among which stands out the Venezuelan triple jumper Yulimar Rojas.

The world record holder in her specialty is the only one among all the contenders who has previously obtained this prestigious award, when it was granted to her in 2020 after breaking the world record.

Along with her were nominated the Kenyan Faith Kipyegon, gold medalist in the 1,000 and 1,500 meters, and the Ethiopian Tigist Assefa, winner of the Berlin Marathon with world record included.

The Dutch Femke Bol, world gold medalist in 400m hurdles and in the 4×400 relay, and Jamaican Shericka Jackson, gold medalist in the 200m and silver medalist in the 100m, close the list.

Voting closed on October 28 and the votes were cast by fans on World Athletic's social networks, while members of the governing body and the World Athletics Council voted by e-mail.
