Havana, January 25 (RHC) - Four-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion Cuban wrestler Mijaín López told Panam Sports that he is highly motivated to face the Paris Olympic Games and said that it will mark his retirement from the sport.

From Croatia, where he fulfills a training base, the Horseshoe Giant talked about his immediate challenges and the future after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

"I am very happy with this start of the year. As we say in Cuba, it started very warm. After a great rest, my body is very well, I am very eager, motivated and determined to go to Paris to win my fifth gold medal," Mijain Lopez said at first.

Panam Sports told Mijain that only six athletes have reigned four times in the same event under the five rings: the American swimmer Michael Phelps, the also American track and field athletes Carl Lewis and Al Oerter, the Danish sailor Paul Elvstrom, the Japanese wrestler Icho Kaori and himself, undisputed king of the major division of the Greco style since Beijing 2008.
