Havana, March 29 (JIT) - Cuba's Juan José Santiesteban will go for the bronze medal in the individual event of the South American Archery Championship in Brazil on Sunday.

Santiesteban could win the second medal for the island, as the trio led by Reiter Tellez won the silver medal in the recurve archery team event.

To reach the bronze medal, the Cuban left Brazil's Gustavo Paulino Dos Santos (6-2) on the road. He then defeated Colombia's Santiago Arcila (6-4), and then in a close match in a tie-breaking arrow against Brazil's Matheus Zwick (6-5).

In the semifinals, the Colombian Jorge Enriquez had a better aim and defeated him 6-2 to advance to the championship against the Argentinean Mario Jajarabilla.

For third place, the Cuban will face Oscar Ticas of El Salvador.
