Havana, April 11 (JIT)- Cubans Rafael Alba (80 kg) and Arlettys de la Caridad Acosta (67 kg) got tickets for the taekwondo lid of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

On the final date of the continental qualifier hosted by the Dominican Republic, Alba, double world champion and Olympic bronze medalist in Tokyo 2020, imposed his mastery and overcame Trinidadian Dan Dasent-Thomson and Canadian Marc Andre Bergeron.

Arlettys, double queen of the Central Caribbean Games, had three bouts to fight. First she defeated Maelynn Emil, from Aruba, by technical superiority, then Puerto Rican Crystal Fradl and for the Olympic ticket in the semifinals against Dominican Katherin Rodriguez.

The other Cubans, Marlyn Perez (49 kg) and Kelvin Calderon (80 kg), although they competed very well, could not make the grade to the Olympic Games in Paris.
