Chile vs Bolivia
Santiago de Chile, Jun 10 (RHC) In another very poor display of soccer, the Chilean national team lost 2-0 against Bolivia and was definitively out of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
With this result, La Roja remains at the bottom of the standings with only 10 points and without any possibility of reaching even the seventh place and playing in the intercontinental playoffs.
The team coached by Argentine Ricardo Gareca received the first blow in the fourth minute, when, in a good play by the Bolivian team, striker Miguel Terceros opened the scoring.
Chile had numerical advantage on the field since 17', when the Uruguayan referee Esteban Ostojich sent off the Bolivian Lucas Chávez for a violent kick against Fabian Hormazábal; however, this superiority was not reflected in the actions.
At the start of the second half, Gareca made three changes, but one of the new players, Francisco Sierralta, only lasted nine minutes on the pitch, as a brutal and unnecessary kick against an opponent earned him a red card.
Already on equal terms and with the wear and tear of the altitude of the El Alto stadium, La Roja suffered a constant siege that came to fruition at 89', when Brayan Cortés did not hold a shot and left the ball at the feet of Enzo Monteiro, who scored at his pleasure.
