Havana, Jun 18 (JIT) - Javelinist Guillermo Varona added the only gold on the closing day and took Cuba to the sixth place by countries in the Parathlon Grand Prix of Tunis 2025.

Champion at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Varona registered a fifth shot of 60.62 meters and took the scepter in the F46 category ahead of India's Rinku (59.55) and Mexico's Eliezer Gabriel Buenaventura (58.29).

This became the sixth gold for the Cubans, who on Wednesday also won silver medals with Ulicer Aguilera, Daniel Milanés, and York Lázaro Suárez.

The latter successfully inserted in the T13 category speed with a trio of awards in the competition. After reigning in the 100 meters (10.94 seconds) and silver in the 200 meters (22.00), he came in second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.08 seconds.

In a mixed event, since it also gathered runners of the T20 category, the Indonesian Alfin Nomleni (49.25) crossed the finish line first and the bronze went to the Venezuelan Luis Felipe Rodríguez (50.51).

Ulicer returns home with a second place achieved thanks to his 59.00 meters shot in the javelin category F13, but above all with the satisfaction of having demonstrated once again his commitment in adverse conditions.
