PSG vs Inter Miami

Havana, June 29 (RHC)- Today, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will take to the field in Atlanta as favorites against Lionel Messi's Inter Miami in the continuation of the Club World Cup round of 16.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Georgia's capital city will host the match for a place in the quarterfinals, which English side Chelsea and Brazilian side Palmeiras have already secured.

The good news for PSG coach Luis Enrique is the return of star striker Ousmane Dembélé, who was sidelined with injury throughout the qualifying phase, in which the Red and Blues topped Group B despite losing to Botafogo.

However, Dembélé could start the match against the Miami team on the bench, with a Parisian attacking trio consisting of Désiré Doué, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Bradley Barcola.

PSG, the brand-new UEFA Champions League champion, is dreaming of an unprecedented perfect season in its 55-year history, having already won all the tournaments it has competed in: the Champions Trophy (Super Cup), Ligue 1, and the French Cup.

In the knockout stage, their opponent is inferior, but the presence of Messi, who still shines at 38, as a star player for Inter Miami, is causing concern for the French capital's defenses.

Luis Enrique praised the Argentine superstar, calling him “the best player in history,” and celebrated the opportunity to coach him when the player was at the peak of his career.

According to the Spanish coach, his plan to stop Messi is to keep possession of the ball and not assign a marker to him, “because he can dribble past anyone.”

The World Cup winner with Argentina in Qatar 2022 is not Inter Miami's only weapon, as the team also boasts illustrious veterans such as Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.

Also today, Bayern Munich will seek to secure its place in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup, a tournament hosted in several US cities, against Brazilian side Flamengo, a team that should not be underestimated.
