Havana, July 10 (RHC) - The capital team La Lisa lost today 0x7 to the Bravos de Pontezuela, from the Dominican Republic, and was eliminated from the Caribbean Little League Baseball 2025 tournament in Curacao.
This was the third successive defeat of the team led by Yoel Flores. It will not be able to qualify for the medal competition, and consequently it was left out of the World Series of this category (U-12 years old), scheduled to be held in Williamsport, United States, from August 13 to 24.
Roberto González Bonachea, head of the Little League project at the National Baseball Commission, reported that right-hander Justin Portes was the Dominican winner and Kevin Águlla took the loss.
La Lisa only had one hit, by Félix Hernández, while for the winners there was a home run by Franciel Cabrera.
Previously, La Lisa had lost 5x6 and 3x5 to Curaçao Pariba and Aruba, in both cases in extra innings.
"This has been the worst performance of a Cuban team in the Caribbean playoffs. It was our third participation and in the two previous ones the gold medal had been disputed, always against Curaçao."
Roberto González Bonachea.
