Quito, April 11 (RHC)-- Preliminary results of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador gives the right-sing candidate for the CREO alliance, Guillermo Lasso, the lead over the candidate for the Union for Hope (UNES), Andres Arauz, in the presidential runoff.

According to the CNE, with 86.14 percent of the counted ballots, Lasso has 52.73 percent, while Andres Arauz obtains 47.27 percent.   After the data offered by the Electoral Council, Arauz thanked the people for accompanying him and urged to continue watching the results, saying: "This is a victory of the Ecuadorian people.  I ask our delegates to remain vigilant to take care of each one of our votes."

It is expected that in the next hours -- possibly early Monday morning -- the CNE board of directors will express concretely the results of this presidential run-off election.
