Venezuelan Education Minister Aristóbulo Istúriz dies at 74

Caracas, April 28 (RHC)-- The Education Minister of Venezuela, Aristóbulo Istúriz, has died in Caracas at the age of 74.  Upon the announcement of his passing, late Tuesday night, messages from political and social representatives of Venezuela were not long in coming, highlighting the social and political struggle of Istúriz throughout his life.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro recognized the work in favor of the Bolivarian Revolution of professor and politician Aristóbulo Istúriz, who at the time of his death was serving as the Minister of Education.

Through a Twitter message, the president lamented the passing of the social fighter, sending a message of support and condolences to his family.

In another message, Nicolas Maduro wrote: "Man of a thousand battles, he always taught us with his accurate word; since we were children we admired his struggle, he leaves us his example, courage and tireless spirit that despite the years continued to fill us with his strength.  Honor and Glory!  Long live forever the memory and work of Profe Aristóbulo!"

The news of Aristóbulo Istúriz's passing was announced late Tuesday by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez.

"With deep regret we regret to inform the departure of our Profe, Aristóbulo Istúriz, fighter of this homeland to which he dedicated his life.  He was accompanied until the last moment by his hopeful smile. Our condolences to his wife, children and friends.  El profe will live in us," wrote Delcy Rodríguez on her Twitter account.
