Brasilia, June 24 (RHC)-- Brazil's former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, in an exclusive interview on the program Notables of the international network teleSUR, asserted Wednesday that he has all the strength to recover the economy and sovereignty of the South American giant.

"My cause is to give back to Brazil its sovereignty and to give back its quality of life.  This cause moves me and I can face any candidate of the right or extreme right (...) When a person has a cause there is no fight he cannot face," said the former Brazilian president.

Lula asserted that despite the attempts of the current president Jair Bolsonaro to manipulate the  elections and generate confusion in public opinion, the project of the Workers' Party will achieve the support of the majorities.   "I am sure that I can defeat him.  Bolsonaro is inventing write-in elections, he is trying to copy the Trump model to justify that when an opponent beats him, he can falsely claim fraud."

"I am convinced that in Latin America we can build a strong economic bloc to confront the blocs of Europe and the United States and try to strengthen Mercosur, Unasur, Celac and relations with the African continent," Lula emphasized.

The former Brazilian president announced that his possible candidacy for the elections will be given at the right time and recalled that his legacy in the Presidency brought dignity to the Brazilian people.   "The polls show that I have every chance to beat Bolsonaro, but at the right time I will decide.  I am in good health, I have a lot of energy and desire to recover hope, the economy and the quality of life of our people."
