Caracas, June 24 (RHC)-- Authorities and citizens of Venezuela began early this Thursday morning the celebrations to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo, the most memorable and significant deed of national independence.

The celebrations for the bicentennial of the independence action began with the rendering of honors at the National Pantheon.

In a message posted on his Twitter account a few hours ago, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro described the Battle of Carabobo as "the great anti-imperialist victory of our Father Bolívar and the Patriotic Army of June 24, 1821."
