United Nations, August 4 (RHC)-- United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has lashed out at the Israeli regime for targeting another school run by the world body in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Ban Ki-moon said: “The attack is yet another gross violation of international humanitarian law, which clearly requires protection by both parties of Palestinian civilians, UN staff and UN premises, among other civilian facilities.”

The UN chief further described the Tel Aviv regime as a violator of international law, saying: “This attack, along with other breaches of international law, must be swiftly investigated and those responsible held accountable. It is a moral outrage and a criminal act.”

The Israeli regime hit the UN-run school sheltering Palestinian refugees in the southern city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 11 people earlier in the day.

Chris Gunness, the spokesman for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said the school was sheltering thousands of Palestinian refugees who had fled Israel’s relentless attacks. According to witnesses, the attack came while people were waiting in line for food supplies.
