St. Petersburg explosion suspect is arrested

 

Havana, April 3 (RHC) The main suspect in the explosion in the city of Saint Petersburg, where the war correspondent Maxim Fomin, better known by his pseudonym Vladlén Tatarski, died, was arrested on Monday, as reported by Russia’s Investigative Committee reported.

Previously, the search warrant to arrest Daria Trépova was revealed. According to the Russian Interior Ministry register, the woman, born on February 16, 1997, was wanted under an article of the Russian Criminal Code.

The explosion in a restaurant in Saint Petersburg occurred the day before when an event in which Tatarski participated was being held at the premises. The journalist died at the scene, while more than 30 people were injured. According to preliminary data, the power of the burst was equivalent to 200 grams of TNT.

In the video released by the Russian Interior Ministry, Trepova admitted to bringing a statuette to the event that exploded. Against this background, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case. According to the agency, "all the circumstances and details of the crime are being established".
