Moscow, Apr 9 (RHC) The Vostok-Akhmat battalion -subordinated to the Russian Defense Ministry- managed to thwart an attempted counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhzhia direction, as reported by Chechen Republic head Ramzan Kadirov Sunday.

Kadirov said the surveillance drone operators did a great job in detecting Ukraine´s offensive actions and coordinating mortar attacks against the Ukrainian forces so effectively that they had to call off their plans to attack Russian positions.

Two tanks and one Western-made infantry fighting vehicle were destroyed, Kdyrov stated.

According to Kadyrov, this is far from the first such counteraction of the battalion to the offensive activity of Ukrainian formations. Earlier, the battalion prevented another counteroffensive attempt by destroying up to 10 enemy armored vehicles.

Recall that the Zaporizhzhia direction is called by many Ukrainian and Western analysts as one of the most likely in terms of the large-scale counteroffensive of the Ukrainian troops planned for the second half of April – May 2023.

Earlier, the acting head of the administration of the Russian Zaporozhye region, Evgeny Balitsky, announced the concentration of a 40-strong group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the northern part of the region occupied by the Kyiv regime. At the same time, Balitsky noted that the region was ready to give a worthy rebuff to the counter-offensive. (Source: PL)
